Confession #135: I’m SET for fall… {All Fruit} Blueberry Peach Smoothie

Being ready for fall isn’t a big secret or anything, is it? Except, in my head, I keep questioning whether I really feel this way, because it’s weird for me. I’m usually the kind of person who would be happy with sun 365 days of the year, and if I could live somewhere where it was, say… 75º and sunny all year round, I think I’d be in love. Buttttt, I actually live in a place called California which isn’t just sun and surf and an ocean breeze everywhere, which is why I find myself still trying to keep cool in shorts and tank tops in the middle of September. It’s all good (I’m really not complaining), but for once, I think I’m ready for a little cool down, and for scarves and sweaters and a bit of cool, brisk air.

Until then, (and actually, even then,) I’ll just be drinking my favorite daily iced caramel lattes and cold smoothies and trying to embrace all the things I still love about summer – like fresh fruit. And I KNOW that making a smoothie is kind of like a no-brainer deal and you don’t really need a recipe if you don’t want one, but every once in a while, maybe you need a little smoothie inspiration. This one is thick (just the way I like it), naturally sweet, delicious, AND made from 100% fruit, so I think it’s one of those worth sharing. Plus, it literally takes all of 2 minutes to blend up since there’s barely any peeling, slicing, or other boring prep work involved. It’s easy, it’s fast, and it’s healthy – how can you NOT want a snack like that? It’s perfect for breakfast, for lunch, for after school or work, for anytime, really!

Here’s the rundown on how all the fruits come into play, just so you know what to expect:

Bananas = sweetness and creaminess (basically a smoothie essential)

Peaches = flavor, flavor, flavor! Peaches play the starring role in this smoothie and I LOVE that.

Blueberries = Color (because maybe you like your smoothies with a pretty reddish-purple hue, right?) and nutrition galore! I’m no doctor, but vitamins and antioxidants, anyone?

Lemon = just a touch or tartness to make the flavors come alive

Annddd there you have it! Go make one! :)

{All Fruit} Blueberry Peach Smoothie

  • Yield: 2-3 smoothies (depending on glass size)

Description

Nothing but fruit goes into this cool, thick, and refreshing smoothie! Blueberries add extra nutrition and color, while peaches give it a sweet taste of summer. Plus, you can whip up this healthy treat in no time!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 medium bananas
  • 1 1/2 yellow peaches, cut into quarters
  • 2 1/2 ounces (1/2 cup) blueberries
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled
  • 12 large ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth (I like to add the ice last). Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

If you’re serving a crowd, feel free to double this recipe, but make sure that your blender is large enough! When I doubled the recipe, I had to add the second half of the ice after partially blending up the smoothie to make room.

Craving smoothies now? I have a few other recipes up my sleeve (mwahaha):

Citrus Smoothie

Berries and Mango Smoothie

Creamy Dreamy Peanut Butter and Berries Smoothie

Gorgeous smoothie! And love the addition of lemon (never have done that before!). I have to say, I’m a bit jealous of your California weather, but fall definitely is one of my favorite times of the year (and is probably what I love most about living on the East Coast).

Great pics, Alexandra!

Thanks so much Laura! I love California weather too, but summer where I am is a scorcher. :/
I add lemon and lime to my smoothies a lot; it works really well!

Try lime instead of lemon!
