Update: This giveaway is CLOSED and a winner has been chosen. Thanks to all those who entered!

I’m super excited to tell you guys about a new gadget I’ve been using in my kitchen – the ThermoWorks ChefAlarm –  especially because one of YOU will win one for yourself!

If you’ve ever used, purchased, or even thought about purchasing a kitchen thermometer before, chances are you’ve heard about ThermoWorks. Their temperature tools are top-of-the-line. A few months ago I started using their Thermapen and it’s completely transformed my baking habits. (Let’s just say that if you love working in the kitchen, there are a million reasons why you need a solid instant thermometer).  So, I’m not at all surprised that the genius people at ThermoWorks have come up with another incredible tool for serious bakers and cooks: the ThermoWorks ChefAlarm. And this week, I get to give one away to a lucky winner!

Here’s the scoop on the new ChefAlarm:

The ChefAlarm is essentially a simple but highly-accurate tool for measuring the temperature of food. It quickly gives you an initial temperature reading (within 5 seconds), and then monitors the temperature of your food as it reaches your target temp. Using it is EASY. All you do is set the high and low temperatures you’re aiming for and let the alarm alert you when your food is at the right temperature. You can stick the probe in the oven or in a grill to measure food as it cooks. While the Thermapen is awesome for fast, instant temperature checks, the ChefAlarm is perfect for long-term temperature control and monitoring. It’s splash-proof, and it can fold up to rest on your counter or hang on any magnetic surface (like your oven!). AND, it has a little spot in the corner where it shows the minimum and maximum temperatures your food hit during heating and cooling. Like I said before – genius.

The ChefAlarm is of course really good for serious stuff like cooking meat – where internal temperature is crucial – but I have my own unconventional ways of using it. I always scald my milk when I make yeast bread, so it’s perfect for monitoring the temperature of my milk until it cools to the perfect point for adding the yeast. It’s also really good for monitoring the internal temperature of bread while it bakes so you don’t even have to take it out of the oven to make sure it’s done. I’m a little bit of a perfectionist so anything I can do to make my baking more precise sounds A+ to me.

So now that you know all about this nifty little kitchen tool, I bet you want to know how you can win your own, right? For a chance to win the ThermoWorks ChefAlarm, check out the Rafflecopter form below and follow the prompts. You can earn up to 6 entries in the giveaway. The giveaway is open until midnight on Monday, October 28th. The winner will be notified shortly afterwards and will have 48 hours to claim their prize. Good luck!

Meg October 21, 2013

I was just telling hubby I wanted a thermometer for Christmas! This one looks awesome.

Katie October 21, 2013

Betti Fowlow Elliott October 21, 2013

My colour of choice would be red.

Karla October 21, 2013

This would be so great to have when baking bread or making candy. Thank you for the detailed review.

alexandra October 21, 2013

You bet! :) It’s a really good investment.

Amy October 21, 2013

I’ve only made candy twice — and the first time my homemade lollipops failed! — because I don’t own a good thermometer and stopped before the sugar solutions were hot enough. (That and I’m afraid of burning myself!)

Love your review! I’m considering buying my own, even if I don’t win. ;) I’d choose either the classic white or purple (my favorite color)!

Definitely been there! I messed up marshmallows because I had a candy thermometer that was just made cheaply. :( Haven’t looked back with the ThermoWorks products!

Amy October 21, 2013

Coming from you, that’s a HUGE vote of confidence!

P.S. How hard is it to make marshmallows?? I’m intimidated to try, so I keep buying them instead for rice krispie treats and s’mores.

Oh my gosh, it’s so easy! Don’t be intimidated at all. Basically if you can use a stand mixer and make simple syrup, you can make marshmallows. :D This is the recipe I use if you want to check it out; it doesn’t have corn syrup, which is nice!

Amy October 23, 2013

Wow, your recipe looks so easy and manageable! Now all I need is that thermometer… ;)
